SOME’s Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5K Returns on Nov. 25

  |     |   Uncategorized

Thanksgiving isn’t just about eating turkey; it’s also about reflecting on everything you have. If you find yourself having a little extra this year, give back by running SOME’s 20th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5K. The annual race raises funds for local families and individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty, extending them a hand on a day that’s all about abundance.
Whether you feel comfortable joining the mass of other runners at Freedom Plaza or you’d prefer to run the race solo, the Thanksgiving Day Trot has an option that should suit you. If you’re ready to get out and enjoy some fresh air, sign up for the in-person race departing from the plaza at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving day. The race organizers have agreed to implement any public health measures in place at the time in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you’d rather run at home, you have until 6 a.m. the following morning to complete your 5K anywhere you like. Either way, make sure to let your family and friends know they can donate to you as an individual runner (or your team, if you form one) to help combat homelessness in the D.C. area.
